Larry Arbogast, 72, has been restoring cars since he was 11 years old. Arbogast has owned a number of cars throughout his life. Based on his knowledge and personal experiences, Arbogast offered The Scoop a list of his top 7 dream cars from each decade.

1920’s Dream Car: 26′ Bugatti 35C

“I would choose a Bugatti 35C that was a supercharged race car back in the day it was one of the fastest cars of the time. It’s just a really cool car.”

1930’s Dream Car: 32′ ford

” I would probably choose a 32 ford. It’s an iconic hot rod. A lot of them were turned into hot rods and it’s something that I would want to do with one if I had it. I would probably leave the fenders on, chop the top, you could do different things with it. A 32 tri window coupe would be an awesome car to own.”

1940’s Dream Car: 49′ Mercury

“I’ve thought about this a lot, I really like the lead sleds of the 50’s, and a 49′ Mercury is the most iconic, chopped top, lead sled as they called them. A lead sled is a kind of low rider, when they chopped the top or did any custom body work to them they used lead. They didn’t have any of the body filler that we have now so they were full of lead, so the more custom they were the more lead they had in them. Thus they called them lead sleds.”

1950’s Dream Car: 57′ Porsche

“I’m really a European sports guy too, so I think i would take a 57 Porsche speedster. It’s an iconic sports car from the day and they raced them a lot in road racing, it’s always been one of my favorite cars.”

1960’s Dream Car: 63′ Pontiac

“This is probably the toughest year to choose a car because literally so many of them. You’re going to think this is weird but I would probably choose a station wagon. In 1963 there were three race cars built by Pontiac. They used their 425 super duty motors. Two of them were sedans and the other one was a station wagon. It was one of the fastest cars of the 60’s because it was a smaller station wagon and it was a lighter weight car. That one is probably the coolest thing, because imagine owning a station wagon that just about nothing on the planet could out run not even a corvette.”

1970’s Dream Car: 71′ Pantera

“Without a doubt it would be a Pantera I’ve always wanted a one. I actually got to see one when they first came out and it was bright orange. It almost looks like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari but it’s american made which made it that much cooler.”

1980’s Dream Car: 85′ Lamborghini Countach

“I had a poster for many years of a bright red Lamborghini Countach . No one sees those anymore so if I had to pick one from the 80’s that’s what I would want.”
