Fashion and style has always played a huge role in society. Today especially, society praises personal style and self expression. The Scoop sat down with Stephanie Mallick, an actress and professional plus size model living in Manhattan, New York. Mallick is co-host of a podcast called #Sponsored, as well as teaches a burlesque inspired dance and self confidence class called BOMBbody Burlesque.
Q: Who has inspired you the most when it comes to style?
This may be an unpopular answer, but I always loved the Kardashians style. They were some of the first women I saw in the media that had curves and celebrated them (the curves) with form fitting, sexy looks that I really loved. I am definitely a long hair and contour queen thanks to them.
Q: How have the Kardashians inspired you?
I always loved how they turned casual dressed down looks into something flirty and sexy. I have stolen their iconic lacy bodysuit with casual jeans and heels aesthetic.
Q: How would you describe your style because of them?
I describe my style as casual sexy. I try to make it look like I just threw something together, easy breezy, when I’ve actually been getting ready for hours. I want my style to look effortless whether it is or isn’t.
Q:What’s your “go-to” fashion piece?
An off the shoulder detail whether on a dress or bodysuit is my favorite. I love showing shoulder I think that can be a untapped powerful area of skin to showcase.
Q:What is your favorite trend right now?
I am loving that all body types are now rocking crop tops. I never would have done that ten years ago and times are changing for the better!
Q: What is your favorite part about being in the fashion industry?
I love that I am able to make a difference by being there. My body type and those like me are breaking into NYFW (New York Fashion Week), editorials, top magazines and we are showing that there isn’t only one type of model or beauty.
