Drury Wrestling will start their third year of competition this November. The Scoop met with Trenton Clines, a wrestler at Drury University, for a inside look on this season’s goals.
What does Drury Wrestling expect to accomplish this season?
This season, we as a team, expect to be competitive in every competition. We have spent the last two years building up as a team and getting some experience. We are ready to make a name for ourselves this season.
What is the team doing in the preseason to help accomplish these goals and expectations?
To help us accomplish these expectations, we have been putting in a lot of extra work. Over the summer we had most of the team living on campus so we could continue training. Now through the fall we are training up to 6 times a week. A lot of guys are doing what it takes to win in the future.
What are your personal goals for the season?
Personally, for this season, my number one goal is to stay healthy. If I can do that then the next goal would be for me to just wrestle hard like I know how to at every competition. My last goal is to qualify for nationals at the end of the year.
Is the team ready to get this season started?
The team is definitely ready to get the season rolling. We have a lot of new freshman who are buying into the program and really working hard. Mixed with the upperclassmen who are also all bought in, it makes for an exciting preseason. We are all excited to see what we will do.
