Scores of runners and walkers will hit the streets again this October for the 2015 Panther Run, a race to benefit the Springfield-based charity Care to Learn.
Drury University is teaming up with local businesses, such as Bass Pro Shops and CoxHealth, to co-sponsor the event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3.
The run will begin on the Drury campus and will include 5K, 10K, and 15K events. Each race has its own starting time: 15K (7:30 a.m.), 10K (7:40 a.m.), and 5K (7:50 a.m.). The local sponsors have donated $20,000 in prizes and awards for the run.
Entry fees vary by race as well:
- $45 for the 10K or 15K, if you register before (Oct. 1); $50 thereafter.
- $35 for the 5K through Oct. 1; $40 thereafter.
Race packets available for pickup from noon to 6 p.m on Friday, Oct. 2, at Drury University at the O’Reilly Family Event Center’s Panther Deck. Please use the South Booster Club entrance off Central Street.
Care to Learn helps to fund children living in the Ozarks who have unmet hunger, health, and hygiene needs. Care to Learn funds are specifically used to purchase products such as toothpaste, soap, food, fresh clothing, winter coats, and medical services for these students. The organization believes that children should be able to attend school without worrying about their overall survival or the struggles that befall them at home.
