The Japanese Fall Festival is returning to Springfield for its 19th year this month.
The Springfield Sister Cities Association in partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board is hosting the three-day festival Sept. 12-14 at 2400 S. Scenic Ave. in the Nathanael Greene / Close Memorial Park — Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. The festival celebrates Japanese culture in honor of Springfield’s sister city, Isesaki, Japan.
The event will have a variety of activities for the attendees. Tickets will cost of $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-12. Toddlers 2 or younger and members of the sister cities association will be admitted for free. Attendees can also get weekend passes for $12 for adults and $5 for children 3-12.
Some event offerings include sumo wrestling, a martial arts display, Japanese crafts, and a ninja costume and game contest. There will be music, crafts, and other demonstrations of Japanese culture for all ages.
The event hours are:
- Friday, Sept. 12: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 13: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday, Sept. 14: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
