The 2014 Panther Run will hit Drury University’s campus on Oct. 4. With more than $20,000 in prizes, it offers chances to win for even neophyte runners.
Every year, hundreds of people of all ages and running ability line up on Drury Lane and wait for the gun to sound to start a 15K, 10K, or 5K. Each running course takes the competitor around and north of Drury’s central Springfield campus. W
With more than 20 sponsors, the Panther Run has established itself as the prize-winning race in the Springfield area. Anyone who registers will automatically be entered into a drawing for the prizes. Prizes include gift cards, bikes, and T-shirts. Each registered person will also receive a long-sleeve New Balance technical shirt.
The Panther Run benefits Care to Learn, an organization striving to give every child the tools to succeed in the class room.
The runs begin at varying times:
- The 15K will begin at 7:30 a.m. and costs $45 until Oct. 2. It’s $50 day of race.
- The 10K will begin at 7:40 a.m. and costs $45 until Oct. 2. It’s $50 day of race.
- The 5k will begin at 7:50 a.m. and costs $35 until Oct. 2. It’s $40 day of race.
